Marcus Leonard Scruggs

He was born on February 23, 1935 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Ollie Louise Davis Scruggs and William Dover Scruggs. He attended Fayetteville High School and graduated from Wake Forest College in 1956. Following graduation from Wake Forest, he joined his wife’s family at Briggs Hardware where he worked ultimately serving as president. He served his country in the US Army. Marcus loved playing golf and spending time with his friends.

Marcus was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Briggs Scruggs, and his brother, Wilburn Scruggs.

He is survived by his son Marcus Leonard Scruggs, Jr, and wife, Anne Scruggs, his daughter, Evelyn Scruggs Murray, and his three granddaughters, Elizabeth (Scruggs) McGrath, Mary Scruggs and Ashley Bush; his sisters Hazel Scruggs McGugan and Cordelia Scruggs; and his sister- in- law, Diana Scruggs.

There will be a memorial service for Mr. Scruggs on Thursday September 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends at a reception at Christ Church following the service. Burial will be private.
