Margo was born March 1, 1947 in Raleigh, North Carolina where she lived her entire life. She was the only child of NCSU Professor Arnold Nolstad and Mrs. Eleanor Nolstad. Margo graduated from Broughton High School in 1964. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained an undergraduate degree in Music and a Master of Arts in Teaching. In addition, Margo graduated with a PhD in Education from Duke University. She was active in her community, having served on several Homeowners association boards. Margo was also past president of the Raleigh Skiing and Outing Club and a member of the Raleigh Concert Band for which she played the French horn. She retired after 35 years as a music teacher with the Wake County Public School System. Over the years, Margo was also a private piano teacher for numerous children. Margo’s parents preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, in Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
