

Raleigh, NC – Marion Judd Gentry, Sr., 77, passed away on November 1, 2010 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 23, 1933 in Raleigh, NC to his parents John Abner and Maude Rebecca Gentry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lucille Rivers Gentry, his son, Marion Judd Gentry, Jr. and his daughter, Lisa Gentry Carson. Marion will also be missed by his grandchildren Joshua, Zachary, and Salem Carson.
Marion served in the U.S. Air Force in the Strategic Air Command. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. Marion was a friendly, outgoing person who loved to tell stories; he had the ability to keep everyone laughing. He was a talented craftsman and loved to hand craft gun stocks, make wood carvings, and draw editorial cartoons for the newspaper. Above all he will be remembered as a family man and a proud grandfather.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 4th , Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park with Military Honors.
