Marvin E. Gay, Sr., 87, of Garner died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016. Marvin was born in Durham on Aug. 13, 1929, to the late Rudolph and Callie Gay. He attended Murphy School and graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School. Marvin was retired from Fred Whitaker Cotton Mill after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Gay; his five children, Hank Gay and wife Cindy, Wanda Lamm and husband Ricky, Tony Gay, Andy Gay and wife Nicole, and Randy Gay and wife Kathy; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; one step-son, Chris Jones; and his beloved dog, Boo Boo.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh, and at other times at the home of Marvin and Susan. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 am at Caraleigh Baptist Church, 1400 Green St. Raleigh. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
