Masao is survived by his daughter Alyssa Kishore, his son Leo Kishore and his wife and stepdaughter, Gabriela and Gimena. Masao had two grandchildren: Cooper Williams and Sloan Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife Mayumi Kishore, father Nand Kishore, mother Chiyoko Ogino and brother Kikuo Kishore.
Masao was born in Japan and after graduating high school, the family moved abroad to the U.S. He went to the University of California at Berkely for his undergraduate degree in mathematics where he graduated as valedictorian and then pursued his master’s and PhD at Princeton University. Masao became a mathematics professor at the University of Toledo in Ohio where he met Mayumi and soon married. After several Ohio winters and becoming a naturalized citizen, he moved the family to North Carolina where he was a professor at East Carolina University in Greenville. He and Mayumi were members of the Greenville Cotillion and Couples Dance Club and both avid gardeners. Mayumi passed in 2009 and Masao taught until his retirement in 2020.
Masao lived for family driving to Cary every other weekend. In 2021 he moved to Raleigh where he lived with Leo and was often at Alyssa’s house with Cooper and Sloan. Masao was active with the Japanese ministry at First Baptist Church and enjoyed his stocks until his recent decline.
