Mildred Blankenship York

Mildred Blankenship York, 81, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. Born on October 29, 1934 in Burnsville, NC; she was the daughter of the late Dolph and Ella Blakenship.

She married Edward Birl York on April 17, 1954 and together they raised two cherished children. Mildred retired from the North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation after 24 years, serving as the Secretary for three former Presidents.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Raleigh enjoyed Bridge, traveling and spending time with her best friend, Bill George.

Mildred is lovingly remembered by her son: Michael Fulton York and wife Cindy, of Raleigh; daughter: Linda York Davis, of Wendell; grandsons: Shawn Edward Webb, Shane Steven Webb, Gary Travis Keane, Andrew Fulton York and Edwin Neal Guenther; brothers: Franklin Delano Blankenship and wife Mary Ann and William Vance Blankenship and wife Rose; and by other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, her husband and an infant daughter, Karen Ellen.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16th, 2016 from 1-2 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, with services to begin at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.
