Patrick Steele

There will be a Requiem Mass at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC 27608. A reception will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Fallon Center.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2022 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, followed by Vigil prayers and Rosary at 7:40 PM.

Pat was born on November 1, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa where he received his BS degree in Finance and his MBA degree in 1974.

Since 1969, Pat had been a Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual. In 1974 he joined his father’s agency in Dubuque Iowa. His brother and sister later joined them.

He married Mary Paula Zaytoun of Raleigh NC at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in 1981 at which time he continued his work with Northwestern Mutual in Raleigh and Dubuque.

Pat was a wonderful listener. He loved sports, especially golf and Iowa football. He was smart and wisely helped his friends and family plan their futures. He especially loved being with his nieces and nephews and counted many people as dear friends.

Pat is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Paula Zaytoun Steele; mother: Helen Carew Steele; mother and father-in-law: Martha and Henry Zaytoun Sr.; brother: Mike Steele (Susan); sisters: Mary Kay Mickelson, Ellen Allare (Greg), Brigid Steele; brothers-in-law: Henry Zaytoun, Jr. (Mimi), Ellis Zaytoun (Leigh Ann); sisters-in-law: Marie Howard (Johnson), Joanne Zaytoun, Carol Lynn Foster (Mark), Nancy Kenna (Tom), Michele Waters (Steve) Connie Weitz (Marc); nephews: John Mickelson (Brooke), Gregory Allare (Rachel), Danny Steele, Augustus and Charles Howard, Mark Foster Jr. (Emily), Thomas Kenna (Iraida), Patrick, Peter, Jeffrey and Kevin Kenna, Henry Zaytoun III (Mariane), Reeves Zaytoun, Blaise Waters, Haynes, Christian and Jeremiah Zaytoun; nieces: Katie Allare, Ashley Steele, Alexandra Paski (Mark), Elena Penny, Martha Lee Brissette (Ryan), Mary Lanier Berne (Brett), Taylor, Clare, Rachel and Margaret Zaytoun, Becket Waters; great nephews: Jack, Tucker, Hansen and Hunter Mickelson, Paul, Wallace and Ellis Brissette, Oliver Foster, Tommy Kenna, Wyatt Paski and Oliver Berne; great nieces; Ella Jane Zaytoun, Emerson Paski and Clancy Foster.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don T. Patrick Steele, Sr. and his brother, Timothy Steele.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped Pat during his illness. Mary Paula is forever grateful.
