Paul Donald Sterrett Harrison was born on September 11, 1934, in Union City, PA, and from the very beginning brought love and laughter into the lives of those around him. Throughout his life, Paul, otherwise affectionately known as “Gpa”, embodied kindness, strength, generosity, empathy, and devotion to family, leaving a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army and had a distinguished 33-year career with IBM where he discovered his passion for computers.
Paul found joy in gardening, cooking, bird watching, travel, reading and ACC basketball. He cherished time spent with family, especially over Sunday dinners, and his beloved dog, Piper. Above all, Paul will be remembered for his steady presence, warm smile, financial wisdom and unwavering love and support for his family.
Paul is lovingly survived by his four children, Paul Donald Harrison, Kristine Kiser, Daniel Harrison and Timothy Harrison (Missy); six grandchildren, Rachel Harrison, Taylor Harrison, Matthew Harrison (Caroline Yaun), Amanda Harrison, Joshua Harrison (Caroline Spencer) and Reid Harrison and three great-grandchildren, Jayce Rudd, Emmett Harrison and Declan Lee, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, kindness and empathy.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife Alice Emerson Harrison, Paul was preceded in death by his two sisters, Emma Sterre Harrison and Virginia Thompson, and his brother, Samuel Harrison.
At the request of Paul’s family, graveside services at Raleigh Memorial Park will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society, reflecting Paul Harrison’s values and the causes close to his heart via the link listed under Donations.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Gpa will forever remain in our hearts—his strength, love, and devotion to family living on through the generations he cherished so deeply.
“We will miss you always and love you forever. Your love lives on through all of us.”
