She was born in Randolph County, NC to the late Cecil M. and Treva S. Lane. Peggy studied music at Campbell and East Carolina Universities and was a lifelong pianist, organist, and piano teacher.
She was honored by Trinity Baptist Church in 1998 for her 30 years of service as an accompanist where she was an active member for over 50 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Daryl E. Masteller and brothers, Gilbert Lane and John Lane.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Smith (Barry) of Wake Forest; sons, Ed Masteller (Nancy) of Raleigh, Scott Masteller of Elon; granddaughters, Megan S. Thorpe of Wake Forest, Meredith M. Diamond (Zach) of Raleigh; great granddaughter, Sara Ann Thorpe; great grandson, Nat Thorpe; brother, Joe Lane (Nancy) of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service officiated by Dr. Jeff Roberts will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Raleigh Memorial Park.
