Peter Fowler Gable was born to Linda Virginia Fowler Gable and Charles Jacob Gable, Jr on December 31, 1947.
Pete's first career had him in Winston Salem where he owned and operated three service stations from 1970-1992. Many people knew Pete as Pastor Pete, when he became the pastor at Victory Baptist Church in Raleigh in 1993 and pastored for 23 years. Pete retired in 2015 and he and Pixi moved to Mount Dora, FL for five years before returning back to NC to be near the "kids and grandkids".
Two of Pete's passions were studying God's Word and playing golf. Pete enjoyed his retirement (and many outings beforehand) on the golf course, playing multiple times a week. Pete's favorite verse was John 14:21 "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."
Pete is survived by Pixi (Carolyn), his wife of 51 years; two sisters Virginia G. Vitty and Linda G. Carmine; his brother Charles J "Jay" Gable III (Ruth); his children Pete (Cherie) and Jen (Brian); four grandchildren Linsey Duncan (Kent), Sara Gable, Bren Heidorn and Matt Heidorn; and by many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A "Celebration of God's Goodness" will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 4 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh, with a Song Service to begin a little after 5 pm. Family will receive friends following. Both services will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
