Rachel Lowery Hite

She was born on October 27, 1937 in Person County, North Carolina to Edgar Henderson Lowery and Louise Puryear Lowery. She married Lloyd Lee Hite on June 2, 1956. They were married for 60 years, prior to Lloyd’s death in 2016.

She is preceded in death by her parents (Edgar Henderson Lowery & Louise Puryear Lowery), her husband (Lloyd Lee Hite), her sister (Bonnied Lowery Phillips), her sons (Marty Lee Hite & Gregory Scott Hite), and her grandson-in-law (Miles Wesley Smith).

She is survived by her siblings, Reba Yvonne Glasscock, Dean Puryear, & Landy Lowery; her grandchildren, Ashley Smith (Justin Croom), Megan Messner (Bradley Messner), & Christopher Hite ([redacted]); and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Messner, Nathaniel Messner, Adeline Messner, Ava Smith, Hunter Messner, [redacted], Bodhi Messner, & [redacted].

She will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Rachel will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. A committal service will follow at Virgilina Cemetery, 8328 Cemetery Rd, Virgilina, VA 24598.
