Robert served in the US Army and was a cattle farmer his entire life. He retired from the Wake County School Bus Garage as a mechanic in 1997 after 30 years of employment.
He is survived by his son: Robert “Robby” Elmo Shuffler III and wife Heather, of Raleigh; daughter: Rhonda Shuffler Bass and husband Mark, of Faison, NC; his four grandchildren whom he loved spending time with, Robert “Tyler” Shuffler, Emily Shuffler, Colby Bass and Samuel Bass; and by his sisters: Marie S. Welch, of Chattanooga, TN and Lois Edwards and husband Bill, of Cary.
Robert was preceded in death by his siblings: Clarence Shuffler, Raymond Shuffler, Paul Shuffler and Effie “Tiny” Renfrow.
Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue). Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary, NC.
