Robert Vesel (Bob) was 96 years young and was born on April 30th 1927. A retired resident of Cary his cause of death was living a full and loving life with an amazing candor, humor and infectious smile.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to David and Lilian Vesel, Bob grew up in a large household being one of four brothers - Jack, Al, Ed, and one older sister Rose. At the helm of the Vesel family Bob was the last to leave the family on October 18, 2023 at Transitions Hospice in Raleigh.
A longstanding member of the Knights of Pythias, Bob was the last of his kind: a celebrated Master Engraver for nearly 70 years with a legacy of work in both the defense and civilian sectors. Among his proudest accomplishments was his precision work on the Norden Bomb Sight project as a young man and his early work of creating the manufacturing processes for the analog artificial horizons (Gyros) utilized in nearly every aircraft still flying today. His contributions to the aerospace industry of Long Island, New York placed him in the Cradle of Aviation Aerospace Honor Roll. From his manufacturing of the primary control panel for the Third Tube of the Lincoln Tunnel to signage throughout the New York metro area, there is hardly a building in New York that doesn’t bear his workmanship.
In addition to hand engraving tens of thousands of design masters, he also created the initial design work for the packaging of Haagen-Dazs ice cream for his sister Rose in the 1960's.
A caring and generous and loving husband to his wife Frances of 66 years (who predeceased him) and his two children. Leaving behind a daughter - Marcie Vesel Bronkar (spouse Paul), a son - David Vesel (spouse Michelle), and grandchildren Courtney Vesel Seha (spouse Elijah), Denis Bronkar and Taylor Vesel.
Leaving this world with one less true blue spirit in every way. He will be missed everyday by us all.
A service and entombment will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery mausoleum in Raleigh, NC on October 27, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am.
