Ruth Ann Green

Ruth Ann Sutherland Green passed away peacefully in the arms of her adoring husband on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She was born to the late Donald Edward and Tempie Ann Sutherland on November 21st, 1947, in Seymour, Indiana. The family moved to Raleigh soon after where Ruth attended school until she graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in 1966.

On December 3rd, 1966, Ruth married the love of her life, Edward Lamar Green. She dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for Lamar, and their two children, Jason and Nikki. Ruth cherished every moment with her family, which was her greatest pride and joy. Known for her strong, all-encompassing hugs, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. An avid gardener, she spent her spare time landscaping and tending to the many flowers, bushes, and trees at her home.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband Lamar, her son, Jason Chadwick Green, his wife Chandra and their sons Ethan and Parker, and her daughter, Ashleigh Nicole Williams and her husband Warren. She was loved by many family members and friends.

Ruth is predeceased by her parents and brother Donald E. Sutherland Jr.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 at 12 pm at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the church at 1pm. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
