For all of her adult life, she was a devoted wife and homemaker living in whatever state her husband's career took them - finally settling in Raleigh in the late 1960s. Sarah never broke a rule, never got a speeding ticket, never cursed and never crossed any line. She was an obedient citizen and a proud American in every way. She loved a good laugh and detested rude behavior.
She was the quintessential southern lady with a heavy Virginian accent.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Drake.
She is survived by her sister, Susie McGrath of Alexandria VA; three children, Bob, Winston (Michael), and Patti (Lewis) and six grandchildren, Ben (Amanda), Lindsey, Sarah (Jim), Shep (Camille), Layne, and Henry and one great-grandchild due in May 2021.
Per her request, there will be no funeral service. Her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Pittsboro, NC in a private ceremony.
Her favorite charity was the Jimmy V Foundation at 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513.
