

Sarah Casella Ficarra, 92, of Raleigh, NC, was received into the arms of her Savior on Monday, November 4, 2013. Sarah was born on March 7, 1921 in the town of Ucria, Sicily to Joseph and Rosaria Casella.
At 10 years old, Sarah left Sicily to live in the United States. She worked for Grumman Aircraft during World War 11 and around this time met her husband, Joseph. The pair raised three daughters in Merrick, New York before moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida, and then to Raleigh in 2006. While in Raleigh, Sarah continued in her love of cooking for family and friends. Her second favorite pastime was playing bridge with her dear friends.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Sandra Eismann and her husband Roy, JoAnne Liesegang and her husband Wayne, and Francine Tustin and her husband Bruce; eight loving grandchildren; sister, Connie Algeri and her husband Joe; brothers, Vinny Casella and his wife Lala, and Manny Casella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sarah is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Joseph, her sister, Carmela and her brother, Joe.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 in the chapel at St.Francis of Assisi at 10:30 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 10:30 prior to the Mass at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Wellness Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi, Heartland Hospice or to the charity of one's choice.
