Sue Hughes Gupton

Sue Hughes Gupton, 61 of Raleigh and Topsail Beach, NC won her battle with cancer on Friday afternoon, January 21, 2011.

Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson, NC at 10:30 am Monday, January 24, 2011. Her memorial service will be at Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC at 2:00 pm Monday, January 24, 2011.

A native of Henderson, NC, Sue was the daughter of the late Wesley R. Hughes and Belle Hunt Hughes. She was a graduate of Henderson High School in 1968, attended East Carolina University and graduated from Florida Atlanta University. Sue was a high school teacher in Boca Raton, FL and Raleigh, NC and dedicated volunteer at schools for the children and women’s Bible studies.

Sue is survived by her husband, Tim Gupton; son, Craig Gupton and his wife, Lanier of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Sarah Norris and her husband, Michael of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Rebekah Gupton of Wilmington, NC; and grandchildren, Tripp Norris and Anna Thayer Gupton. Sue was predeceased by daughter, Mary Ann Gupton.

In lieu flowers, memorials may be contributed to Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel at PO Box 3071, Topsail Beach, NC 28445 to further the work of Christ in her beloved Topsail Beach.
