With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thelma Jean Koger, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on August 20, 2025, carried by Angels to the presence of the Lord.
Jean’s life was a testament to unconditional love, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness. Jean was happily married to Bob Koger. They loved each other and were blessed wonderfully by God's love.. She was the heart of our family—always the first to offer a warm hug, a listening ear, or a home-cooked meal that somehow made everything better. Her laughter and songs filled every room, and her wisdom guided us through life’s most difficult moments.
Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Jean dedicated her life to loving others with the grace of God. She spent countless hours volunteering at her local church, she touched the lives of everyone she met. But her greatest joy came from being a mother to her two children, whom she raised with grace, patience, and fierce love.
Jean is survived by her children—David and Robert—her grandchildren, her sister Ethel, Marie and Doris, her brother Paul and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she shaped, and the memories we hold dear. She will be deeply missed, and we will be with her again in the Lord’s presence.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of East Wake Church of God, 2709 NC-97, Wendell, NC 27591. A viewing will be held the hour prior to the service. Following the funeral, Jean will be laid to rest at Raleigh Memorial Park; 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh, is serving the Koger family.
