Dr. Thomas Thomasian

1925 - 2015

Raleigh, NC - Dr. Thomas Thomasian, (89 yrs. old) of Raleigh, passed from this life into eternal on Monday, February 16th, 2015. Thomas has been the loving husband of Adriane Thomasian since December 18, 1955. He was a devoted father of his two loving children. Nancy Sara Thomasian and Thomas Avedis Thomasian. His five grandchildren are Ellie Adriane, Benjamin Harry, Keyan Eli Ming En, Blaine Thomas Cheng, and Ava Sara Lizi.

Dr. Thomasian was the second child of Alice and Avedis Thomasian (departed) of Providence, Rhode Island. He had two brothers, Harold (departed), Aram, and sister Elizabeth (departed) in Belmont, Mass.

Tom was an art instructor in the public schools of Long Island, New York and an adjunct art teacher at Long Island University. He received his B.F.A. and B.S. from the Rhode Island School of Design and an M.A. & Ed.D. from New York University.

He enjoyed painting, his favorite medium was oils. He exhibited his work in group shows in galleries and museums. Tom earned prizes "Best in Show", in Parrish Museum in South Hampton, Long Island, New York. "Second Prize" , at Hofstra University and "Honorable Mentions" at other shows. Dr. Thomasian served in the United States Navy during World War II and as a reservist, he was recalled for service in Korea. In 1994, he and Adriane moved to Raleigh for a desirable retirement location. Tom has been a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Armenian Cathedral of New York.

He was a kind man and will be greatly missed by friends and family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 East Edenton St., Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be private at Oakwood Cemetery.
