Born in December, 1947, in Mayfield, PA the youngest of nine children to Albert and Alice Mushow, he was raised in Syracuse, NY. He served during the height of the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 and was honorably discharged as an E5. After returning home, he met Dolores "Dee" DeLuca and they married in September, 1971. Tom worked his way up from an installer at New York Telephone company to a mid-level manager at Verizon, "retiring" in 1998 after 32 years of service. Afterward he started a consulting business for economic development in the central New York area.
He served many years as Chairman of Board for Empire Federal Credit Union.
Tom "finally" retired in 2006 and he and Dee relocated to North Carolina to be nearer their two sons. They quickly built a huge network of friends in both Kitts Creek in Morrisville and later Creekside at Beth Page in Durham.
With his infectious smile and quick wit, Tom was gregarious and quick to make new friends. His garage was the place to be for a hot game of darts and cold libations. He was an avid golfer and played many of the courses in North and South Carolina. He was always working with his hands and was widely known as the neighborhood handyman. No matter who needed something fixed, Tom was immediately willing to help with the tools and the know how to do it.
Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dee, son Christopher Mushow of Hickory, NC and son David Mushow (Anne) of Apex, NC; siblings Francis McDaniels of Jupiter, FL, and George Mushow (Georgia) of Jamesville, NY; sister-in-laws Laurette "Laurie" Elsea (Andy) of Southport, NC, Bernadette "Bernie" Simiele (Bob Bartolo), of Morrisville, NC; brother-in-law, John DeLuca Jr. (Will Noble) of Jupiter, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and many dear friends; and Peep's best adventure and fishing buddy, his only grandson, Jackson.
