She was the daughter of the late Wayne and Ann Eason. She was predeceased by her son Mark Rollin Ransom, step daughter Marsha Scott; first husband Rollin Main Ransom, Jr. and second husband J. Brian Scott.
Vena attended Wellesley College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She worked as an Occupational Therapist in Connecticut, Kansas and NC. She was most proud of her role in opening the Occupational Therapy department at Wake Memorial Hospital in Raleigh, NC, now known as WakeMed. Later in life, Vena worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Athletic Department of NC State University, which was both an honor and a treat because she was an avid Wolfpack fan! Her final career was as a Court Reporter with the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
Vena embodied a deep desire to provide at risk children and young adults with resources and gifts that could help that person live a better, more fulfilled life. She never wanted recognition for these selfless acts. Vena loved traveling all over the world. However, she felt her most joy when spending time with her family who loved her very much.
Vena is survived by her son Christopher Ransom (Brenda); daughter Laura Epting; son-in-law Doug Epting; daughter-in-law Sheri Green; step daughter Morgan Chapman (Wilbur); step daughter Barbara Tripkovic (Zlatko); step son Jesse Brian Scott, Jr. (Teresa); brother Clifton Eason (Linda); niece Beth Folta (Joe); nephew Lance Eason (Linda); grandchildren Rachel Epting (Jesse), Madison Moser (Cheri), Daniel Davis (Meredith), Melissa Jones (Dean); great grandchildren Malakai, Kayleigh, Addison, Ryder, Yates, Parker, Memphis; great great grandchildren Esmae, Emery.
