She worked as an accountant for a short time in a dime store in downtown Raleigh before becoming a homemaker. She later provided childcare for many children over the years in her home.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dewitt Rogers; her parents, James Noah and Maude Lynch Carroll; and 6 of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann Rogers; her brother, Edward ”Bud” Carroll; her sisters, Maude Cox, and Sophie Jones; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Virginia was an incredibly giving person to those she surrounded herself with. She was a loving wife, mother, and caretaker. She loved gardening and had planted a yard full of flowering trees and plants, which she loved. She will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel at Mitchell Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park.
