

Dr. Wade Melbry Brannan, Jr., age 92, formerly of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 30, 2022 at Waltonwood Senior Living in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on January 26, 1930 in Erwin, North Carolina; he was the son of the late Wade Melbry Brannan, Sr. and Hannah Holloman Brannan and brother of the late George Wyatt Brannan (the late Mary Jane Brannan).
Wade grew up in Dunn, North Carolina graduating from Dunn High School in 1948. He graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1952 and entered the UNC School of Medicine, graduating in 1956. Wade went on to become a Doctor of Pathology beginning his career in Austin, Texas. Most of his career as a Pathologist was spent at the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. He retired from Pathology after service at Beaumont Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Wade is survived by his nephew: G. Wyatt Brannan and wife Karen, of Raleigh; niece: Beth Brannan Mayer and husband, Ken, of Greensboro; great-nieces and nephew: Margaret Mayer, Hannah Brannan, Miriam Brannan, and Kenneth Mayer.
Graveside Funeral Rites will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 am at the Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wade’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dunn NC.
