Walter Rudolph "Rudy" Wagner, 74, of New Bern, N.C., went to his eternal rest on January 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 31, 1937, in Newton, N.C., to Paul Bernard and Eunice Wilson Wagner.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Bailey Wagner, son, Karl Frederick Wagner and wife, Brenda, grandchildren; Bailey Lynn and Christopher Karl Wagner of Brookfield, CT. He was a 1955 graduate of Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh and completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at North Carolina State University. He served four years in the Air Force at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
He retired from IBM after 30 years in Raleigh and seven years with Kemmit Electronics in Greenville, SC. The Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Our Savior Lutheran Church followed by inurnment at Raleigh Memorial Park with military honors.
