Mac was a veteran of the United States Marines Corp, having served in the Pacific and China during WWII, as well as the Korean War. He survived the great depression, and even came to help rebuild Camp Lejeune after the war during his time in the Marine Reserves. He made his career in sales of heavy equipment such as hydraulic cranes, which brought him all around the world. He was always a great supporter of many organizations, such as many veterans groups, Shriners Club, St. Jude’s Hospital, March of Dimes and Lakota Native American tribe to name a few.
Mac lived in the same neighborhood in Cary, NC, for over 37 years, making and keeping great neighbors and friends while there. He loved to watch and play golf, and always remained a dedicated fan of the Wolfpack. Mac had a wonderful whit and sense of humor, and was the best story teller who ever lived.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen McCreath and Wendy Champion (Paul); six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; niece, Nancy Sims; and long-time caregiver, Linda Bonner.
