I met Bill when I was with USACAPOC and stayed in touch with him after that.  He was always there when anyone needed a helping hand and always had a nick name for them as well.  I started calling him Billy Bob and he in returned gave me the nick name of Joe Bob.  He always was smiling and full of humor and jokes.  I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing as I have lost not only a true friend but a brother.  Billy Bob I know you are looking down on us all and still rooting for NC State.  You are greatly missed.  To Frnaces and the family your in my thoughts and prayers and you have lost a great husband, father and friend.

I had the honor and privilege to work with Bill and have him work for me, both as a Civilian employee and a Soldier.  I just recently found out about his passing when I had the opportunity to visit the Army Research Office in RTP. I asked about Bill and I was told that he had passed away. I am saddened that I did not get to say farewell to Bill.  What a character he was. Bigger than life itself, Bill was always smiling, lending a helping hand, and bragging on NC State.  For some forgotten reason, Bill gave me a tiny replica of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse once.  I still keep it on my desk and it has real meaning to me now.  A Soldier's Soldier, Bill I salute you and celebrate your life, looking forward to joining you someday at the Savior's retreat formation.

Bill was such a proud person – this was evident in his stance and in his tone.  I've always admired him for that.  Whenever we saw each other, we would often greet in the same cheerful, yet endearing manner – he used to call me “TJ” …that will greatly be missed.  On social events at work, he would always provide a helping hand even when he didn't have to - he was just that kind of person.  And in my latter times of talking with him, I've come to know that he knew and believed in the Lord. With that, I find solace in his transition, knowing that he's made it to a better place.  To the family, please know that Bill's presence will be greatly missed and that you all are being uplifted in prayer.

I met Bill at Calvary Baptist Church in Raleigh in 1982. I had no inkling he'd become my Knight in Shining armor when he married me in 1984. I brought 4 young children to the marriage and he took on the daunting task of loving all 5 of us. Bill was a servant - he served his country; he serve the Amran Shrine; he served his God. He could always be found doing that task that few wanted to do and he never sought glory for it. He has left my children with many sweet memories and the knowledge that many a time he saved their bacon ... particularly the 3 boys! I never felt safer than in his big arms. He fought the fight of a lifetime with the cancer and held it at bay for 2 years. Bill, enjoy your walk with God for eternity and rest in peace. Your wife of 28 years, Frances.

To Kristin... I know how close you were to your father and while I never met him, I felt like I did know him.  Please know that you and your family are in our prayers.  Be strong and know that your father is in a better place.

I'm saddened by the news of the passing of Mr. Cheek.  I hope the wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.  Frank & family, you all will be in my prayers for peace and healing.

Mr. Bill was always encouraging to me as a teenager! Always had a humorous comment for any situation. I love your family and think of you all often!

Bill was an integral and valued member of the 171st Area Support Group (ASG) before, during and after our war-time deployment to Iraq in 2003-04.  He was indeed a bit of a "character" at times, but always did his best to help our soldiers and the command group succeed.  He and I also shared an intense love for the NCSU Wolfpack.  He will be dearly missed by all.  Frances - You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am very grateful that I new Bill. He was a great man and love every aspect of life. Always giving 100% and would lift everyone spirts. He was a very hard worker for the Shriners Hospital for Children and it was always a pleasure working with him. He will be missed by all Nobles and friends. Our prayers go out to the family.

I am so sorry for your (and our) loss. Bill was so easy to talk to and always volunteering to do more here at ARO. A true giver in every way. He will be greatly missed.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Bill's passing... I had the privilege of working with him in the Ceremonial Cast for a dozen or so years before moving to New Jersey.   He was a good man, Mason and Shriner and he will be missed.

Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand.  He loved people and most importantly he loved the Lord.  He always lifted my spirits and I as well as many others will gratefully remember his many supportive words and actions.

Bill's dedication and enthusiasm for his work and his friends was unwavering and unmatched.  His memory will remain an inspiration for all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Bill was very compassionate and always eager to help out.  He was always pleasant to be around and never ever angry.  He was full of fun and great for morale at work.
