

Wilson (Bill) Reed White, Jr., 68, of Raleigh, born November 27, 1947 in Charlotte, NC to Wilson Reed White, Sr. and Annie Murray White, died Sunday, July 17, 2016. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School before attending NC State University where he received a Bachelors in Applied Mathematics in 1971. He worked for First Citizens Bank for 35 years and retired as Senior VP and Manager, General Services.
Bill shared his passion for working to improve the lives of others while serving on the board of directors for Wake Enterprises, Inc. for over 10 years. He then came out of retirement to continue this work as a part-time employee to help with fundraising efforts and a new facility completion. Wake Enterprises provides vocational and social opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He also worked with numerous other boards, including the Triangle United Way and what is now the NCSU College of Sciences.
Bill was a dedicated NC State University supporter and especially loved Wolfpack athletics. He was a member of the Wolfpack Club for 50 years and was a season ticket holder for basketball, football and baseball games for almost as long.
Over the last months of his life he battled an aggressive form of brain cancer with dignity and courage. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his nephew Keith White. Survived by his wife of 47 years Susan, daughter Christy, son Aaron and his wife Jane, and beloved grandson Charlie. He is also survived by his brother Murray and his wife Pat and nephew Kevin, sisters, Elizabeth White and Fran White.
A visitation will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 5:30 pm -7:30 pm. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
