I have so many great  memories it’s hard to choose just one .   All the great times I had growing up sitting around the campfire with Aunt Betty’s ghost and witch stores trying to scare us ..haha.  Fishing on the boat at Lake Erie.  She  always made Christmas special especially her homemade eggnog and shrimp cocktail. Swimming in the pool she would make me lunch and she would always worry and check on me even though even though I was an adult, to make sure I was safe by the pool.   Some of my best memories are times spent with my Aunt  Betty and my Uncle Les!!

I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing, Brian. I loved seeing and catching up with her and your Dad on their yearly visits, be it at your house, out to dinner, on a trip to Malibu,  enjoying the fresh seafood in San Pedro or Disneyland.  I especially liked the Disneyland trip with your folks and my folks. We were quite the entourage with two wheelchairs!

It was so wild when I saw your folks outside the baggage claim at the airport in Cleveland the day BEFORE you arrived! (Guess they were really looking forward to your visit! LOL!) They sure were surprised when I told them you weren't arriving until the next day! 

Your mom will be sorely missed but she lives on in you. I hope memories of happy times bring you comfort in your sorrow.

Having your mom and dad in California every winter was such a great way for all of us to spend time with them, since they had a nice long stay. I enjoyed your mom very much, and she always had a great story and loved to make you laugh. She was a pistol. 

I know your whole extended family will miss your mom, as we will, but we all know she is in a better place with your dad.  They are back together again, dancing the night away.

May the beautiful memories you have of your parents, always bring you a smile and a warmth in your heart.  They will be dearly missed by all your California friends.

Brian - I'm sorry to see that your mom passed. She sure had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. I pray that your family finds stength and hope in dealing with the void her leaving created. Love lives on as long as one is remembered.

Mom, I love you and I will always miss you, but I am also very glad you are now at peace and have joined dad and your parents and family.  You were a true character. A never-boring mix of  Irish temper, practical joker, creative soul, mamma bear, and always - the perfect hostess making sure family and friends were taken care of.  You would do anything for your children and helped each of us out anytime we needed it.

I cherish my memories of the 15 years you and dad were able to visit me in Monrovia and stay each February through 2014. Looking back at the photos of our dinners, trips, sight-seeing and fun times with my friends, it was wonderful to see  you both having fun and being embraced by my California family. February will never be the same for me. Looking at my back patio in February I will always see the image of you and dad chilling back there doing word puzzles, or you talking to your favorite dog of mine, Cody. He passed before you so I have a wonderful image in my mind of you petting Cody on the other side of the rainbow bridge. 

I loved the way that you and dad celebrated life and shared your love of life with your family and friends through your various parties, Sunday BBQs, pool parties, events at your cottage and later at your Lake Erie retreat. You knew that your hosting gene is alive and well with me as I host pretty much nonstop events for my California friends (and for my Ohio friends before that). I now realize most folks don't have the DNA that makes them feel obligated to entertain their friends, or to feel true joy from doing it - but I do, and that is straight from dad and you (mostly you I suspect). 

Thank you for all that you and dad did for me. I am glad that I got to repay a tiny peace of it before the end.  Rest in peace mom with dad and your other loved ones. I am so glad that like dad, when your quality of life was at an end, you went peacefully and didn't suffer.  Give dad a kiss from me.

Grandma you will be missed.  That day was special to me, when you and grandpa came to see me, Jessica and David that afternoon.  This is the last photo I have of you and grandpa with the great grand kids. Love you and grandpa.  I always share memories of me spending time and having sleep over your house.  You would read to me every night before bed and in the mornings.  Grandpa would then drive me to school in the mornings. Makes me happy to know you are with grandpa again. xoxo

Betty was such a fun and sweet lady. I will miss our yearly lunches at Marie Calendars. How she loved her pie. May she rest in peace and know she was welled loved.

Funeral Service

She married the love of her life, Lester H. Ulm on October 22, 1955. Lester passed away June 7, 2015. Also preceded in death were her parents Ira and Grace and her siblings Thelma, Helen, Harold, Robert, Donald, Merle, Ira Paul, and Clifford. 

Betty is survived by her sons Brian Ulm, Gary Roswell and her daughter Sandra (Andreas) Stegh. Grandchildren Andrea (Brent) Loebick, John Stegh, Rosemarie Fox, Kathy (David) Danner, Carrie (Aaron) West. Great grandchildren Brandon & Bryce Loebick, Katelyn & Connor Fox, David & Jessica Danner, Austin, Kylee and Tyler West. Niece Cheyenne (Doug) Samco as well as many more nephews and nieces.
