

He was born April 25, 1940, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Lewis and Jean (Robinson) Housley. Carl graduated from Stow High School in 1959 and joined the Navy. He served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. Mr. Housley retired from the Chrysler plant in Twinsburg after 40 years of service, as a Tool and Die Maker.
Carl always enjoyed racing, beginning with AED Housley Drag Racing and later as a partner with Sharecropper Stables Thoroughbred Horse Racing. Carl also had a second home in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, with Larry and Linda Hesson, where many fond family gatherings were held.
On January 30, 1965, he married Sharon L. (Hesson) Housley. Carl is survived by his children: Dan (Tammy) Housley, Sean (Nichole) Housley, Brett (Tracy) Housley, and Anna (Eric) Gerber of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren: Maeghan, Ryan, Erin, Abbey, and Lauren Housley, and Alyssa Gerber; as well as his sister Sheri (Don) Clegg of Show Low, AZ.
Friends will be received Wednesday, July 18, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Robert Miller at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. Entombment will follow with military honors provided by the US Navy and VFW Post 1055 at St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna.
