

Charles Thomas Dennison, Jr., age 86 of Kent, passed away January 29, 2024, at Altercare in Brimfield. He was born June 5, 1937, in Weston, West Virginia, and was affectionately known as Chuck to his family and friends.
Chuck began his working career as a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company in Bedford Heights from 1955 – 1970. In 1963 he became a Nationwide Insurance Agent in Streetsboro until his retirement in 2000. He then went to work at the Kent State Golf Course until it closed.
Chuck was an active member of his community. He was the Charter President of the Jaycees for the City of Streetsboro in 1972 and was the president of the Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce in 1975. He volunteered at UH Portage Medical Center for 22 years, including 12 years as a volunteer chaplain. Chuck was a member of New Testament Baptist Church.
He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He shot his first hole-in-one at the Kent State Course and won the Portage Bowling Tournament, both in 2006. Chuck also enjoyed community theater. He had roles in Aurora, Streetsboro, Kent, Hudson, and Chagrin Falls. Chuck and his wife, Ruth, were Christian drama directors for 35 years. He was probably best known as “Eli the Inn Keeper” in the play “In Bethlehem Inn”, a dinner theater that was done at Lakeview Chapel in Aurora for 18 years.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Ann (Preston) Dennison, his sons: Tom (Kathy) Dennison of Maryland and Tim (fiancé Melina Barreca) Dennison of Newbury, Ohio, as well as his grandchildren: Krystal (Josh) Flory, Katrese (Anthony) Barta-Strong, Tomas (Natalie) Dennison, Charles T. Dennison III, Jennifer (Shawn) Branson, Gabriel Dennison, Penney Dennison, along with 11 great-grandchildren.
Chuck is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Madelyn Nutt, his step-father Robert Nutt, his father Charles Thomas Dennison Sr., and his sister Regina Stickovich.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Bob Burgess at 11:00 AM at the New Testament Baptist Church, 3583 State Route 59, Ravenna, OH 44266. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
