Deanna was born on September 1, 1942 in Braddock, Pennsylvania to parents John Edward and Elizabeth (Lessa) Marsh.
She had enjoyed a long career employed in the Rootstown school district. One-half elementary secretary & one-half special education secretary for 14 years. High school guidance office secretary for almost 15 years – making nearly 30 years in all.
Deanna also enjoyed her involvement within the Rootstown Community as secretary of the Rootstown Board of Zoning Appeals & Zoning Commission, former member of the Rootstown Civic Club, current member of the Rootstown Historical Society and Faithful Stampers, (a card-making group).
After retirement in 2008, both she and husband, Steve, were volunteers at Rootstown Elementary School for many years. She enjoyed making crocheted baby blankets for family/friends and donated over 300 to Akron Children’s Hospital. Dee collected old jeans and made warm decorative quilts for many family & friends over the years. She donated them to the Rootstown Sports Reverse Raffle and her quilts can be found all over the United States. She was fascinated by Family history and researched and documented over 30 albums.
She and husband Steve enjoyed the Metro Parks Fall Hiking Spree earning their staff and shields for almost 20 years of participation. They enjoyed the varied trails, and peaceful, quiet hikes in nature.
After moving out from PA in 1964, they lived in Bedford Heights for a few years and eventually bought a home on 10 acres in Rootstown. Through-out the next 20 years they built 3 more homes and ended up in their “retirement” home on the last of the acreage surrounded by trees. Dee often referred to and loved her “little house in the woods!”
She liked television but “loved” the theater. She attended many, many productions and was so happy when her grandchildren not only attended shows with her, but also performed in theater productions themselves. Attended many sporting events, first her own children, and then her grandchildren, as they participated in football, baseball, basketball, cross-country, track, volleyball, & soccer.
She liked nothing more than to sit on their back deck, cookout and enjoy the quiet.
She loved to work at the schools with the children, but the thing she loved most was her family.
Deanna is survived by her husband Stephen “Steve” Thomas Plecko, married Sept. 8, 1962, and her children: Lisa Marie (Jeff) Oliva of Austin, TX., Kenneth Stephen Plecko of Streetsboro, Oh., Sharon Elizabeth (Steven) Walters of Omaha, NE, and Thomas John (Karri) Plecko of Rootstown, Oh.
Her nine grandchildren: Dreyton (Shawn Campos) Oliva, Monica (Brandon) Willis, Weston Oliva, Maddox & Griffin Plecko, Rachel & Kristen Walters and Katurah & Melanie Plecko also survive Deanna. Surviving also is her brother and sister-in-law David & Cheryl Marsh, brother-in-law John Danielson, sister-in-law Mary Marsh, eight nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces & nephews and many friends and neighbors.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol Danielson and her brother William Marsh.
