He was born March 7, 1955, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to parents Frank M. and Lela Grace (Texter) Dawson. Duane retired as a Lieutenant with the Portage County Sheriff’s Department after 33 years of service in 2015. He was also a member of FOP Lodge 70 and the Blue Knights.
Duane is survived by his beloved wife Loretta Foy, step-son Devon Foy, grandchildren Emma and Devon Jr., brothers Keith and Jerry Dawson, sister Elaine Dawson, and his niece Amanda Dawson.
A memorial service will be officiated by FOP Chaplain Bob Burgess on a later date, and private inurnment will take place at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
