Ed was born on June 5, 1939, in Alliance, Ohio, to parents Edward and Dorthea (Barber) Bissler. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Alliance. After high school, Ed married Rosalie (Butler) and they started their family.
He worked as a plumber/pipefitter. His career began by working alongside his father at the family business of EJ Bissler and Son Plumbing. From there he became a proud member of the plumbing union and worked all over Ohio and even in New York when work wasn’t available locally. Ed provided for his family and instilled a strong work ethic in his children. After he “retired” from union work, he became a plumbing inspector through August of 2024.
Ed cherished his family and celebrating their milestones. He was a Boy Scout Leader and guided his son to an Eagle Scout. Ed encouraged and supported his children through 4-H. He watched both of his daughters graduate from college and later attended their weddings. He loved his sons-in-law, but absolutely adored his grandchildren.
Ed truly was a jack-of-all-trades and was able to fix anything. He was no stranger in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and grilling. Ed also loved his cats and going on country car rides. Most of the time, those rides would end up at an ice cream stand.
Ed is survived by his daughters: Ann Mary (Robert) Laslo and Susan (Bobby) DiFeo, his grandchildren: Kalman, Nathan, Isabella, Giuseppe, Luigi, Francesca. He is also survived by his dear sister Mary Jo Cowgill, along with several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rosalie Bissler.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 427 E. Broadway St., Alliance, OH 44601. Condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com
