Frank L.Tully, born February 12, 1921, went home to be with his Lord February 27, 2011 at the age of 90. He was born in Detroit, Mi., and the first son of Frank Love Tully and Elsie (Blakely) Tully. His family moved to Alabama for a number of years and there he graduated from the University of Alabama. After graduation he worked as a purchasing agent for Fruehauf Trucking Company until he felt the call from God to enter the Christian ministry. In preparation for the ministry, he attended Oberlin Seminary and Vanderbilt. He faithfully served as a minister for over 25 years in the United Methodist Church in the North East Ohio Conference. He served churches at Winona U.M.C., Rootstown U.M.C., Bunker Hill U.M.C. and St. Paul's U.M.C. in Tiffin, Ohio.
Frank was a man of humor and compassion. He will be remembered by many for his jokes. Children in his congregations were fascinated with a trick he did of "taking off his thumb." He often whistled or sang and one woman remarked that she wished she had that man's spirit.
He met and married his first wife, Ann Dunn, and became the beloved step-father and Gramps to Ann's grandchildren. He and Ann traveled to Europe and Israel. After he retired from the ministry, they moved to Lakeside, Ohio. Shortly after, Ann died.
After several years, he married Lenore Drennen. Frank and Lenore lived at Lakeside until they moved to West Farmington, OH. They attended the Parkman Congregational Church where Frank assisted in many of the ministries. Even though he was retired, he continued to share his love for the Lord and the necessity of accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Although he never had any children of his own, he was a wonderful and much loved father and grandfather to the Dunn and Drennen families. He leaves a number of adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elsie Tully, his brothers’: Julian and Allen, first wife Ann, and second wife Lenore. All of our lives have been greatly enriched by knowing and loving Frank. He will be missed but we rejoice that he has run the good race and now is with his Heavenly Father.
