

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Roy Miller, who passed away July 17, 2025, at the age of 59, after a brief battle with cancer. He was affectionately known as “Big G” to his family and friends.
Gary was born on May 31, 1966, to Richard Lee and Thelma S. Miller. He grew up in Ravenna, Ohio, and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1984.
He married Karen Sears on January 16, 1990, and together they started a very successful family business, Miller Garage Door Company. The family moved to Rootstown where they raised their four children and he lived the remainder of his life. Gary enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted family man and a friend to many; he always welcomed family and friends with a Big G warm smile and big hug.
Gary was a talented baseball player for Ravenna High School. He remained committed to supporting the Portage County community through youth sports sponsorships and his active involvement in the Ravenna Elks, Moose, and former Italian American Society.
Gary is survived by his wife of 35 years Karen (Sears), children: Bridgitte (Paul) of Painesville, Samantha (Tim) of Rootstown, Gretchin (Casey) of Ravenna and Gary (Paige) of Kent, four grandsons: Dalton “Juni”, Anakin, Theodore Roy, and Nash, as well as a granddaughter expected in October. Gary is also survived by his siblings: Thelma Cline, David Saminego, Greg Miller, and Jeffrey Miller, along with many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Gary was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Richard “Rick” Miller.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM with a memorial service starting at 1:00 PM at the Ravenna Elks Lodge. A time of fellowship will follow until 4:00 PM.
