George A. Jacobsen

He was born November 13, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Hans and Marie (Feiler) Jacobsen. George was a truck driver, working for Fishbach and later retiring from Wooster Motor Ways. He also operated Jake’s Mowers from his home. Mr. Jacobsen was a veteran of the US Army, the Merchant Marines, and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Survivors include his children: Cora (Steve) Stott of Akron, Conroy Jacobsen of Akron, James Jacobsen of Akron, and Judy (Brian) Collins of Atwater; sisters: Anita Metz of Rhode Island and Wanda Fisher of Florida; grandchildren: Angela (Mike) O’Brien, Christine Stott, Brian (Lisa) Stott, Cortney (Darrell) Rose, Cory (Carrie) Stevens, Katrina Stevens; as well as many loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley (Colegrove) Jacobsen, his brother Hans Jacobsen, and his sister Delores Rush.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 15, 2011, from 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service officiated by Pastor William Nicewarner at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow with military honors at Grandview Memorial Park.
