Jack was an incredible father, husband, son, brother, and educator. His care for others was unparalleled and the list of lives he touched throughout his career in education is innumerable.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Thomas Cooper, his mother Eleanor Jones and his stepfather Donald Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Cooper, his two daughters, Ashley Fraley (age 42) & Craig Fraley (spouse to Ashley age 41), River Cooper (age 40), and his four brothers, Bill Cooper (age 65), Guy Cooper (age 63), Glenn Cooper (age 63), and Stan Cooper (age 62) .
His love of family, friends, classic cars, history, and baking couldn’t be matched. He dedicated his career to education of special needs children. His special compassion and patience made him well suited to the task. He loved spending the time and effort needed so that his students could find their own success. His laughter was infectious and his smile was always present. He would always make sure that family and friends were fully stocked with cookies, cakes and baked goods, especially around the holidays.
Finding him covered in grease and oil was a common thing as he worked on his classic 1972 Monte Carlo. He loved to take this car to classic car shows and swap meets where he has won several awards. His free time was often spent putting together puzzles.
Although he had retired from teaching, he wasn’t the type of person that could remain still. He took a position driving school buses for Rootstown Local School District, where he fit in instantly. His garden every year was filled with flowers of all shades and types and oh so many tomato plants.
His kindness and his generosity knew no limit, and he loved being able to be a safe space for anyone in need. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and there is now a hollow in all our hearts that can never be healed. Rest peacefully, Jack.
Family will receive friends to celebrate Jack’s life from 3pm-6pm on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
