

James Boyd Freeman, 92, of Randolph, Ohio passed away on June 12, 2015. He was born to Amanda Jane (née Bowers) and James Wesley Freeman in Greenback, Tennessee on August 22, 1922. His family moved to Akron, Ohio shortly thereafter.
In his late teens, James served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, getting the opportunity to travel the country, conducting service projects and sending money home to his family. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force at the Pacific Wing, Air Transport Command in Fairfield, California.
After the war, James returned to Akron, Ohio where he began working at Goodyear and met his wife Ruble. They were married June 1, 1951 and had three children Marilynn, Rhonda, and Jeffrey. They moved to a farm in Randolph, Ohio in the late ‘50s where they raised their family. James worked at Goodyear for 30 plus years as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1984 to spend time with his granddaughters Amanda and Carolyn who he adored. He was also a long time member of New Milford Baptist Church in Rootstown, Ohio.
James was preceded in death by his wife Ruble (née Boggs) Freeman as well as his mother and father and all his brothers and sisters including Kathleen (née Freeman) Morrow, Herbert, Wesley, Edna Bell, and Johny Ruth. He is survived by his children Marilynn (Jerry) Howell, Rhonda (James) Lindsay, and Jeffrey Freeman and his granddaughters Amanda and Carolyn Lindsay. He will be greatly missed by his family.
The family would like to thank Lori Ann Home Health Care, Adult Day Care at Coleman, PARTA for transportation and the Hospice of Robinson Memorial. A special thanks to at-home caregivers Shirley, Kathy, Samantha, Ruth and Debbie.
Friends will be received Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph with military honors provided by VFW Post 1055 and the US Air Force Honor Guard.
