James Mark Roncevich Sr.

He was born January 12, 1930, in Bairdford, Pennsylvania, to parents George and Sarah (Eversole) Roncevich. James graduated from Penn Tech College and went to work for Goodyear Aerospace and Lockheed-Martin as an electrical engineer. He was affectionately known as “Higgs” by his colleagues, family, and friends.

James proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the DAV as well as the Ohio Christmas Tree Growers Association. James loved being in nature. In addition to his Christmas trees, he grew tomatoes and prize winning onions.

On August 17, 1957, he married his beloved Shirley Ann (Schroeder) Roncevich. Sadly, she passed away earlier this year on March 16th. James is also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Rose Patrick, Paul Roncevich, George Roncevich, Thomas Roncevich, Joseph “Bill” Roncevich, Dolores Minster, as well as three infant siblings.

James is survived by his children: Cindy (Clinton) Daniels, James Roncevich Jr., and Paul (Sarah) Roncevich, along with his 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

His wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 PM memorial service officiated by Pastor Tina Gallaher at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A light luncheon and time of fellowship will follow. Private burial will take place at West Cemetery in Palmyra Township.
