Jerry was born in Ravenna, Ohio on April 20, 1969, to parents Gary L. Knapp and Joyce (Williams) Knapp. He graduated from Ravenna High School and attended Maplewood Vocational school where he studied auto mechanics. He later moved to Streetsboro, where he resided with his wife of 34 years Dawn (Fox) Knapp and his 2 children. Jerry worked at the Streetsboro Walmart for many years as an Automotive Technician.
Jerry had many fond memories as a child going camping and boating with his family at West Branch State Park. He loved spending time with family and friends. He loved Cars and was the proud owner of a 1969 Chevy Malibu, his prized possession. His Tool collection was quite impressive, and he could fix just about anything. If you needed something repaired, Jerry had the tool and the knowledge to fix it! Known to many as “Big Jerry”, his nickname fit him perfectly. Those who knew him will always remember his “Big Smile” and “Big Heart”.
He is survived by his wife Dawn (Fox) Knapp and his children Heather Knapp, Drake Knapp. He also leaves behind his mother Joyce (Williams) Knapp, Siblings Roger Boltz, Tammy (Knapp) Bestvina, Terry Knapp, Mother-in-Law Virginia Fox, 5 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Gary L. Knapp and Father-in-law Edward Fox.
Jerry’s family would like to Thank everyone at the Cleveland Clinic for the wonderful and compassionate care that was given to him in his final days.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
