He was born May 9, 1939, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Ira and Idella May (Hartzell) McMahan. John was a self-employed truck driver for 54 years. He served for a short time in the US Army and was a member of American Legion Post 331. John loved listening to bluegrass country music and going to casinos.
John is survived by his wife Ula McMahan, his daughter Johna Leigh McMahan, granddaughters: Kaitlynd Burleson, Kyleigh Shank, McKenzie Shank, and great-grandsons: Zade and Kolson. He is also survived by his step-children: Roy Pepper, Tina (Rob) Apt, Sheila (Neil) Martin, Roger Pepper, and Michael Pepper, as well as his step-grandchildren: Kristi, Stacy, Corey, Joey, Sophie, Courtney, and great-grandsons: Levi and Joey.
