John had suffered ill health for several years and a broken heart for the last year after losing his soulmate and wife, Ruth Ann Shriver, to cancer in November 2024.
John was born and raised in Uniontown, Ohio, where he grew up and graduated from Uniontown high school, followed by a year at Kent State University. He worked in the family business, Shriver and Sons Excavations, operating and maintaining heavy equipment. John also had a career as a long-distance truck driver for Roadway Company.
He is survived by his brother, 5 sons, daughter, as well as 14 grandchildren, and many other friends and family who loved him.
John’s wishes were for cremation and his ashes reunited with his wife's ashes.
His sons will announce a celebration of life honoring their father and mother at a later date.
