

Judy was a proud product of the Cleveland Public Schools. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1966. She went to Cleveland Community College for a few years and later transferred and graduated from The Ohio State University. Judy had love and appreciation for education. She went to school to teach the blind and partially-sighted. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1972. She taught special education students in the Columbus City School District. Upon retirement, she continued to substitute teach in Columbus City and Kent City School Districts.
Judy was a devoted Christian. While in elementary school, after being removed from the Vacation Bible School Program, because she and her big brother, Johnny were fighting, she was baptized and became of her paternal family’s church, Antioch Baptist Church. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Columbus until 2006, when she became a member of Union Baptist Church, a church her grandfather once served as a minister. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Judy was also active with Eastern Union Baptist Missionary programs and the Ohio Baptist General Convention.
Judy was a caring and active member of her community. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Women’s Social Club of Kent, Stow-Kent American Legion Auxiliary, and Kent American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as past president and secretary. Judy volunteered with the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center and the King Kennedy Community Center, The Jake’s Kids Summer Program. She was the Secretary and past President, and most recently Vice President of the Head Family Reunion. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and giving back.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Ray Morgan Sr., whom she married on June 24, 1972. Also surviving are their children: Ann Marie Morgan and Charles Ray Morgan Jr., granddaughters: Justyn Elise Hartgrove and Lillian Charlize Morgan, as well as a host of loving extended family members and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents: Linnell Kinds and Ann (Head) Kinds Thomas, her sisters: Evelyn Kinds and Brenda Kinds, her brother Linnell “Johnny” Kinds Jr., and her dear family dog, “Shorty Boy.”
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 10:30 – 11:30 AM with funeral services officiated by Reverend Dr. Willie Watts at 11:30 AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 2:15 PM.
Judy was a kind and compassionate person who gave her time and talents to many organizations. If you knew her, you would know that she lived her life in the service of the community and under the Lord.
