He was born August 3, 1947, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Robert and Alma (Judy) Eye. He grew up in Atwater, Ohio, where he graduated from Atwater High School in 1965. Larry then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
After his honorable discharge from the military, he met the love of his life, Sharon, and they quickly settled in the town of Windham in 1970. They began their family and were the proud parents of two sons Jake and Gabe.
Larry went on to work for the UAW Union at the GM auto plant in Lordstown for 30 years. When he retired, Larry became a business owner, starting a family towing and wrecking company in 1994. He diligently served his Windham community for 29 years before retiring in 2023.
Larry was an avid sports enthusiast and was a superior athlete himself. He was an acclaimed all-state football player while in high school. He also played many years of men’s slow pitch softball on the national circuit. Larry was one of the most feared clean-up hitters around, and his team went on to win two national titles in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He became a die-hard Windham Bomber fan and really loved watching his grandkids Blake, Chase, Jack, and Alex play Bomber Ball.
Larry was also an avid gambler and enjoyed many evenings with his wife Sharon and friends at Mountaineer Casino. Larry will be remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. A genuine man who always put others needs first and relished in others success.
He leaves behind his best friend and loving wife Sharon Eye, whom he shared 54 years of memories in marriage. Also surviving are his sons: Jake (Nicolette) Eye and Gabe Eye, his grandchildren who he loved endlessly: Blake (Nikole) Eye, Chase Eye, Jack Eye, and Alex Eye, his great-grandchildren: Grayson and Charlotte, his brother Gene Eye, his nephew Daniel (Danielle Kitchens) Sherman along with their children Devin and Katrina, as well as many close dear friends and extended family.
He battled and fought the good fight for over two years, before he went on to be with the Lord and those loved ones who preceded him in death, including: his mom Alma Eye, his father Robert Eye, his sister Jenna Eye, and his brother Bill and Randy Eye.
Larry’s wishes for cremation are being honored and a celebration of life will be announced later. Condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.wood-kortright-borkoski.com In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Larry's memory to your favorite charity.
