She was born November 12, 1940, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Joseph Abiecounas and Eleanor (Brown) Snapp. Marie was raised by her grandparents Joseph and Minnie Brown, and was a lifelong resident of Rootstown.
Marie was a faithful Christian and member of Bethel Baptist Church. She retired from the Kent Holiday Inn after 30 years of employment, then worked at Peg’s Country Café in Ravenna for seven years. Marie loved playing dominos and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was also a member of the 50 Plus Club in Rootstown.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her two husbands Don Watkins and Dale Hustead, her son Dennis Hustead, and her sister JoAnn Bailey.
She is survived by her children: Vicki (Guy) Miller and Cindy (Tom-deceased) Gearhart, daughter-in-law: Tami Pollard (Michael), as well as her grandchildren: Tabitha (Joey), Jeff (Pam), Greg, John, Sarah (Andy), and Matt (Hannah), great-grandchildren: Shianna, Sierra, C.J., Landon, Denver and Judith and her great-great-granddaughter: Aspen. Marie also leaves behind many cousins and dear friends including her best friend and “3rd daughter” Marita (Dominick) Monte, along with her family including Nicole and husband Noah with their son Owen, Tony and wife Alexa and their daughter Maddyn.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor David Ballert and Pastor Bob Burgess on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
