

He was born November 14, 1947, in Piqua, Ohio, to parents Everret and Lois (Hess) Cross. Nolan grew up in West Milton, Ohio, and had a Class IV Water Treatment License.
Nolan proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Hill 4-11 Association and also a member of the Americal Division Veterans Association.
On July 4, 1970, Nolan married his beloved Esther (Kiracofe) and formed an inseparable bond for 51 years. They enjoyed traveling and taking their RV camping. They also enjoyed golfing together and volunteering at the Bridgestone Golf Tournament for over 23 years, where Nolan was always assigned to Hole #4. He also looked forward to golfing with his buddies and then sharing some of his famous Nolan stories for hours.
Nolan was a member of the Kent United Methodist Church. He retired from the City of Kent Water Treatment Plant and went on to start his own business, Cross Consulting Company.
In addition to Esther, Nolan is survived by his brother Verlin (Edwina) Cross of Ashland, Oregon, as well as 2 nieces, his nephew, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM with a funeral service officiated by Dr. David Palmer at 2:00 PM at the Kent United Methodist Church, 1435 State Route 59, Kent, OH 44240. Burial will take place with Military Honors at Riverside Cemetery in West Milton under the direction of the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home.
