Phil graduated from Canton McKinley High School and then enrolled in the Army. He served during the Vietnam War in Aschaffenburg Germany in Company C, Third Infantry. Phil served as a laboratory technician in German hospitals during the war. He earned the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged. He then graduated from the Ohio State University with a major in microbiology.
Phil is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years Linda Mary March (nee Kunkel), three daughters: Maureen (Nathan) Wise, Dr. Melissa March (David Quinn), Meghan (Joshua) Bradley, and seven doted-on grandchildren: Jude, Hunter, Willow, Piper, Rory, Molly, and Ben. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, former co-workers, and the many, many people whose houses he helped buy and sell.
Phil worked in real estate as both a realtor and a broker since 1998. He co-founded Ohio Realty Group in 2006 and sold the company when he retired in 2020. Phil was frequently recognized by the Ohio Association of Realtors President’s Sales Club, which only five percent of Ohio real estate professionals obtain. Previously, he worked in sales and buyer roles as well as in hospital laboratories.
Phil was an incredibly charming man and everyone who met him felt like he was their friend. He was an avid reader of thriller novels and enjoyed boating at West Branch and Holiday Lakes. Phil dearly loved his pets including a Yorkshire terrier and numerous cats. Always a football fan, Phil closely followed The Ohio State University football as well as the Cleveland Browns. He regularly participated in fantasy football leagues with family and friends, especially his nephews on the March side.
