

He was born at home in Palmyra Township, Ohio, on August 25, 1931, to parents Ray Arthur and Elizabeth Mae (Beutler) Corbett. Ralph was an active member of the Palmyra community. He served as an EMT and Lieutenant with the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was also a township trustee for 8 years. Ralph was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Ralph retired as a supervisor with Goodyear after many years. He was also a self-employed heavy equipment operator. In fact, Ralph was quite the mechanic and could fix or repair anything around the house. Ralph was often seen with his faithful sidekick, “Beemer”. After retirement, Ralph and his wife Carolyn enjoyed wintering in Florida every year with his cousin Bob Suffecool.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Carolyn (Kline) Corbett, his son Jim (Terri) Corbett, his daughters Sharon (Ron Oxier) Benedict and Jill Corbett, along with his sisters: Shirley (Bernard) Taylor, Donna Jean Iverson, and Joan Marie (Tom) McGinley. Ralph’s memory will also be cherished by all of his loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Ben Benedict, brother-in-law Bob Iverson, and his nephew Rich Taylor.
Friends will be received Monday, December 21, 2015, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Ballert officiating. Interment will take place with military honors at West Cemetery in Palmyra.
