Raymond was affectionately known as Butch to his family and friends. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Air Force. Ray was a longtime member of Community Bible Church in Rootstown and helped with the construction of the church building. He was a machinist by trade and worked for several area companies, including Goodyear, Firestone, and Die Components, where he retired from in 2008.
Ray loved classic cars and spent many hours tinkering in his garage. After his “retirement”, Ray made his own machine shop in his garage. He was an avid bowler, and had a 300 game at age 65. Ray also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and NASCAR.
He was a loving father and is survived by his children: Scott Strebler, Melissa (Joe) Francis, and Wayne (Lisa) Strebler, his grandchildren: Irene, Daniell, Scotty, Jessica, Zack, Sarah, Megan, Emily, and Ashlee, as well as all of his loving great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years Jacquelin Strebler, his sisters Karen and Michele, and his brothers Jerry and Robert “Spike.”
His wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Community Bible Church, with a memorial service officiated by Pastor Scott Hindel at 12:00 PM. Inurnment will follow with military honors at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
