

He was born April 24, 1954, in Barboursville, West Virginia, to parents Max Wendell and Peggy Ann (Mills) Mays. Rick retired from the GE Lamp Plant in Ravenna in 2013. He enjoyed drag racing, fishing and the outdoors, especially taking care of his farm. Rick was a proud family man and loved spending time with his family and his boxer, “Slick.”
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Lynn (Lee) Mays, whom he married on August 31, 1971, in Pearisburg, Virginia. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law Ricky Lee and Tracey (Ferraro) Mays of Atwater, his mother Peggy Mays of Barbourville, WV, brothers Wendell (Debbie) Mays and Greg Mays both of Barbourville, WV. Rick’s memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Michaela Mays, Megan Mays, William Mays, Hayden Mays, Matt Bankhead, Matt Alfonso, and Amanda Alfonso.
He was preceded in death by his father Max Mays.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with the funeral service following at 5:00 PM.
